My Master Thesis for String Quartet

Composed on 6/12/2011 in 4 movements, Impetus contains a collections of my techniques and thoughts about composing; for example only forte dynamics are utilized all over the composition in order to impose performers to select a severe manner with their instruments.

Here you can listen to the performance of Zarvan String Quartet: Laleh Fallah-pasand, Pendar Parsi, Babak Kouhestani and Narges Fallah-pasand.

Classic Music, A Return to the Past!

I understand something like Mozart but a little moderner in this composition. I can name that postmodern but prefer to mention it under the subtitle A Return to the Past because for me such compositions in my collection are written to show a travel in the time! I want to know if I was in the past how I could write music.

A Serial Composition for String Quartet, 4 Ideas for n-1 Pieces!

Composed on 1/4/2009, Canon in 4 is my only approach to Serialism, based on 4 series of tone, cell, figure and dynamic. Accordingly I have made series of larger musical material (cell and figure) together classical ones (tone and dynamic).

Canon in 4 sounds to some extent a new method of composing serial music and for a critical approach to Serialism has a Postmodern character. Serialism in its primary form is an old fashioned and without my novelty, this composition even could be A Return to the Past!

Trio Golshan.wmv

I have written that for a Trio of my friends, Pedram Marefatkhah (Flutist), Mostafa Golshan Masuleh (Oboist) and Vahid Momeni (Clarinetist) that you can listen their performance here. this composition has 3 movements and the III is another version of the first tempo of Eternal Feel for String Orchestra.

2 Guilanian Pop Melodies

I have written that for the same Trio Golshan above. Guilan is a province of north Iran and Rasht, my living town, is its center.

Many composers have utilized traditional or folkloric material in their compositions specially from the beginning of 20th century. This could have very reasons such clarifying their cultural roots but I think my compositions in any style sound my cultural roots in an ironic manner.

A Travel in the Time through the Wormhole!

It is one of my first approaches to Permanent Enharmonic that I have mentioned in the descriptions of some of my compositions like An Angel for String Orchestra. Wormhole for String Quartet sounds modern and pretty, doesn't it?

Neoclassic Music, A Return to the Past!

Zurvan is the God of Time in the legends of ancient Iran. After that yes! You can clearly distinguish the Neoclassic quality in the canon-like character of the instruments and their combination in a String Quartet.

Baroque Music, A Return to the Past!

Composed on 2/7/2008, Fugue in c clearly shows I could be a Baroque composer!

Fugal rondo is one of my favorite forms that I have made by combination of fugue-like character of a refrain or principle theme and repeat-based character of rondo form.

In this composition for Quintet of Guitar and String Quartet, generally I have composed the episodes or contrasting themes for guitar and the refrain for the quartet. These two units are encountered to each other and sound a good level of aesthetic balance in utilizing the instruments during the composition.

A Return to the Past!

In this composition for Sextet of 2 Flutes and String Quartet, I have composed on the basic character of minimalist music or the same repeat.
